Our seas and oceans contain all the minerals in the perfect balance. When we spend time at the beach bathing in seawater, we are absorbing these minerals through our skin, bathing each and every cell in our bodies with all the minerals and trace minerals the human body needs for optimum health.
Dr. Maynard Murray, a pioneer in discovering the importance of sea minerals estimated that in 2 billion years the land has been worn down by rainfall, washing the various soil elements out to sea thus making this the most valuable source of minerals available on the planet today. He wondered why land animals are prone to illnesses and diseases, yet the sea animals remain healthy. For instance he found that freshwater trout develop diseases, compared to their ocean 'cousins' who remain healthy in the ocean. He began to see the startling absence of 'chronic' disease amongst sea creatures, and the longevity of sea mammals such as whales, seals and porpoises who share similar physiological systems with the majority of land animals (who are more prone to disease). He concluded that the land animals' diet is often lacking in vital minerals. He pioneered the idea of using sea water as a fertilser for soil and plants and describes this method in his book 'Sea Energy Agriculture', which details 40 years of his research into ocean farming. Dr. Murray's book is available from Acres USA.
Research by Dr. René Quinton, a French biologist/physiologist at the beginning of the 20th century, proved that pure seawater is virtually the same as human blood plasma being almost chemically identical in their mineral salts, proteins and other elements. He successfully used seawater on thousands of patients in France and Egypt in the early 1900's. He wrote a book titled 'L'Eau de Mer, Milieu Organique' (Sea Water, Organic Medium) in which he detailed the results of his successful treatment of thousands of patients. He concluded that the results obtained for a variety of diseases by simply being by the seaside, were so evident and specific that many sanatoriums had been built along the coasts of France, England and in other countries and many of these continue to operate today. The air we breathe at the seaside contains sodium chloride in tiny droplets that have been detached from the waves by the wind, and of course the sea contains the many minerals that are needed by the body. No wonder we all feel so healthy after a holiday at the beach!
If we cannot get to the sea, there are other ways of utilising this powerful force of nature - nowadays we have sea water 'concentrates' where the salt has been removed and much of the water by an evaporation process.
How are minerals extracted from ocean water?
Sea salt contains vast amounts of minerals that benefit the human body, particularly magnesium. Magnesium in a liquid or flake form is taken from the sea or salt crystal lakes it undergoes an evaporation process. The result is a concentrate containing many times the amount of essential minerals present in the original ocean water. When sea water is evaporated by solar power it retains massive amounts of the mineral magnesium (vital for health) along with the other minerals and trace elements.
..... normal cell fluid levels and cell health
..... healthy nerve and muscle function
..... to keep the immune system healthy
..... for healthy brain activity
..... to absorb and process other nutrients, including vitamins
..... to maintain a healthy digestive system
..... to maintain a healthy circulatory system
..... to maintain a steady heart beat
..... to maintain a normal sleeping pattern
Every biological function of the body needs adequate levels of minerals to function properly so if these minerals are not present at the levels needed, the body begins to suffer and eventually illness results. The sea is full of all the nutrients needed for optimum health in the body. If you cannot bathe in the sea, simply add a cup of pure unprocessed sea salt to your bath, or some magnesium chloride or magnesium sulphate (epsom salts) to your bath. Magnesium chloride will be absorbed into the body to boost magnesium levels, and magnesium sulphate absorbs into the body to pull out toxins.
René Quinton all those years ago discovered how to harness the power of the sea and as he wrote in his book 'L'Eau de Mer, Milieu Organique' .... "L'eau de mer est thérapeutique ..... sea water is therapeutic".
