Cod Liver oil is a rich source of the fat-soluble vitamins A and D. Essential for the formation of healthy epithelial cells (especially those lining the digestive and respiratory tracts) vitamin A helps with maintenance of healthy skin and mucous membranes. Epithelial cells lubricate body surfaces with mucus and form a protective layer, helping to strengthen the body's defense systems at a cellular level and supporting the immune system. Vitamin D plays an essential role in the optimal uptake of calcium from the intestine into the blood, and helps maintain normal blood and bone levels of calcium.
